1. The Brief
Nike approached us with a bold and exciting challenge:
Create a realistic cake replica of their iconic Nike Camper Van as the centrepiece of a launch filled with music, giveaways, exclusive drops, and high energy.
The cake wasn’t just a dessert, it was a brand statement. Our job was to make it memorable, edible, and 100% Instagram-worthy.
2. The Concept
After an in-depth creative consultation with the store manager, we aligned on a dynamic concept:
- A cake replica of the Nike Camper Van
- Displayed on a diamond-shaped base to represent Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter
- Featuring the Bullring bull sitting inside a Nike shoebox, wearing custom edible Nike trainers
Our design had to reflect Birmingham’s culture, Nike’s brand legacy, and our commitment to edible artistry, all in one unforgettable piece.
3. Design & Development
To bring this vision to life, we crafted each element with precision and creativity:
- The diamond base was constructed from carved wood, covered in fondant, and styled to sparkle like a real gem.
- The Camper Van cake was sculpted from our signature sponge, layered with a chocolate-buttercream blend for structure, and shaped using official VW blueprints.
- The Bullring bull was housed in a hand-crafted edible shoebox, complete with miniature edible trainers, sculpted and airbrushed to mimic Nike’s iconic design.
Once the client gave final approval, production began.
4. Baking & Construction
Every element was carefully handcrafted using premium ingredients:
- Multiple trays of our award-winning vanilla sponge with strawberry jam and a Caribbean twist
- Carved and shaped to precision, using authentic camper van measurements
- Triple-layered chocolate ganache coating for clean lines and support
- All edible elements created from scratch, including textures, logos, and printed details
- Custom-cut diamond base, scored with geometric lines and finished to shine
5. Decoration & Finishing
This cake required the full strength of our years of experience and artistic precision. Every panel, texture, shadow, and detail was hand-sculpted and airbrushed for realism—ensuring it not only looked like a masterpiece but photographed like one too.
6. Delivery & Setup
- Delivered via our refrigerated, branded van to maintain freshness on a warm summer day
- Greeted on-site by Nike’s store manager and curious crowds
- Unveiled to a round of applause, with onlookers crowding to take photos and post online
- The cake became an instant social media hit, with hundreds of organic shares, tags, and mentions across platforms
