CAKE CLASSES

We offer a variety of cake classes and courses, ranging from 1:1 face to face online classes to group face to face classes. We have classes for people that have never attempted to decorate a cake to professionals who decorate cakes on a daily basis. 

Buttercream Cake Class

Wether you're a beginner or a pro looking to add to your skills, buttercream basics is always a great place to start and a great foundation to build from. 

Principles you will learn:

  • Stacking sponges.

  • Cake levelling.

  • Filling your cake.

  • How to dam your cake and prevent filling leakages etc.

  • Crumb coating.

  • Sharp edges.

  • Understanding how to use Pro-Froster.

  • How to effectively use side scrappers.

  • How to attain smooth finish.

  • Troubleshooting.

  • 2nd coat.

  • 3rd coat if needed. 

  • How to make chocolate drip.

  • How to store cake/buttercream.

Fondant Masterclass

This class is for those who are slightly more intermediate. Fondant is something a lot of people are scared of attempting but once you have learnt the skill your business can grow.

 

Principles you will learn:

  • Stacking sponges.

  • Cake levelling.

  • Filling your cake.

  • How to dam your cake and prevent filling leakages etc.

  • Crumb coating.

  • Sharp edges.

  • Understanding how to use Pro-Froster.

  • How to effectively use side scrappers.

  • How to attain smooth finish.

  • Troubleshooting.

  • 2nd coat.

  • How to create the perfect marble.

  • How to kneed, store and roll fondant. 

  • The best brands to work with. 

  • How to attain shard edges using fondant.

1:1 Tailor-made Classes

In this class pick a cake of your choice and learn all the skills needed to reproduce it and add your own touch to it. You will learn all the skills needed from the buttercream, stacking to adding tiers and final design.

  •    Damming - how to stop filling leakages etc.

  •    Cake levelling.

  •    Understanding how to use Pro-Froster.

  •    Sharp edges.

  •    Crumb coating.

  •    2nd coat.

  •    3rd coat/final.

  •    Floral Arrangement.

  •    Textured Buttercream.

  •    Doweling.

  •    Stacking x2 Tiers etc.

Pipping Masterclass

Learn all the skills needed to produce the best looking cupcakes in town. Learn and use a variety of nozzles and master how to apply edible images to fondant cutouts. 

Principles you will learn:

  •    How to create different effects using a variety    of pipping nozzles.

  •    Coring and filling.

  •    Storing.

  •    Displaying.

  •    How to colour buttercream.

  •    How to apply fondant disc to your cupcakes.

  •    How to use edible imagery on fondant discs.

  •   12x cupcakes included.

Corporate Cake Off

Team building and productivity is imperative to any businesses success. For your colleagues to be able to work together, get the best out of each other, rapport and friendly competition is of top priority. 

So here at Khalid's Kakes we have put together a great day out for our corporate clients to help aid rapport, friendly competition, productivity and togetherness. 

What we have planned for you. 

3 teams of 2 will be place against each other to create one of our cakes. Each team will be given instructions on how to create the perfect replication and will work together using their skills to read and understand the task given to them, to come together and use tools they may have never used before, to use their hand-eye co-ordination and general imagination. 

Each team will have 4 hours to produce the cake and along the way they will learn the necessary skills of how to buttercream, stack, fill, apply fondant and final decoration. 

The teacher will work alongside each team but to a minimal and will be there for added help but if that added help is needed this will come at a cost of 10 minutes off their total time leaving the other teams more time to create a better cake. This will further the importance of working as a team and problem solving. 

At the end of the 4 hours the teacher will pick the best cake and the winners will get a trophy and be able to leave having beat their fellow colleagues while having fun doing so and eating their masterpiece. 

We will also have a leaderboard where the winners can go against other businesses. They will see the cake created and the time it took to create it and how many time penalties was given. This will further the element of friendly competition. 

Light refreshments will be available.
