About Khalid – Head Baker

From the inner-city streets of Birmingham, my journey began in a place where opportunities weren’t always easy to find. My parents worked tirelessly to give my sibling and me everything we needed, even when circumstances were tough. Those early experiences taught me resilience, gratitude, and the value of hard work — lessons that have guided every step of my path since.

Out of those challenges, I discovered my passion for baking — a craft that allowed me to express creativity, discipline, and joy. By combining that passion with a natural drive forbusiness, and with the unwavering support of my wife and children, Khalid’s Kakes was born: a wholesome, family-led business built on integrity, community, and care.

Today, our bakery stands for more than just great cakes. It represents possibility and a reminder to the next generation, especially local kids growing up in similar circumstances that success is achievable with vision, perseverance, and belief in oneself.

About Rose – Head Cake Artist

Baking has always been a part of my story. I grew up surrounded by the comforting aroma of home-baked treats as my mum would make our birthday cakes each year covered in chocolate and our favourite sweets, while my nan baked something special every single day. Dessert was never just food in our family it was an expression of love, care, and togetherness. Those early moments shaped the foundation of what would one day become Khalid’s Kakes, though I didn’t know it then.

My professional journey began in nursing, a career I pursued for ten years. Caring for others was deeply fulfilling but during my maternity leave at a time when life was financially challenging a new chapter began. What started to make ends meet soon became something far greater. Khalid discovered his talent for baking, and I found my calling in cake artistry.

Together, we poured our hearts into creating something meaningful, blending precision with creativity. From that partnership, Khalid’s Kakes was born.

Today, every cake we craft carries a piece of our story. The warmth of family, the pursuit of excellence, and the belief that passion can transform circumstance into opportunity. Khalid’s attention to detail and my love for creative design are what make our work distinctive. Together we ensure that every creation reflects both artistry and heart.
